The weekend after Easter, Adam and I set off toward Glacier National Park. Glacier is about six hours from our house, but our views during the whole trip were beautiful. I hope you take the time to look at all these pictures because this park was just spectacular. If you ever have the opportunity, without a doubt, you should try to make the voyage to experience this adventure.
The water was so clear. You could see the bottom of deep pools.
This road is called the road to the sun. It was still closed due to "winter" in April, but Adam and I walked up a few miles on this road in search of perfect views.
I just feel at a loss of words trying to describe this place. I hope the pictures do it justice. There are very few places on Earth where you can sit on a rock with this as your background! I felt very lucky to be there and experience it.
Adam took this picture. He said it reminded him of a picture from our honeymoon, however, instead of palm trees these are pines, and instead of sand that is snow. I think each place is equally beautiful!
Glacier National Park is only about an hour away from Canada, so of course we drove to Canada!!
This picture doesn't even look real to me! Canada had such rugged mountains. I am so glad we decided to take this little detour.
We drove to the small mountain town of Fergie, Canada and stopped for dinner. Even though we were only about an hour away from the U.S., we could really tell we were in a different country.
Yes, this was a tunnel on the interstate in Canada...pretty cool!!
We camped out that night in Northern Montana and took another scenic route home the next day. On our way home we drove next to Flathead Lake for about two hours. The whole lake had house after house on its shore. I can't even imagine what it would be like to wake up in the morning, look out the bedroom window and see this view. If it wasn't so far away from everything else that I love, maybe I would consider it!
Grand Teton National Park
The next weekend we drove to Grand Teton National Park. Again, I am speechless trying to describe this trip. The Tetons are only about three hours away from where we live. They are located at the very bottom of Yellowstone and are another sight, that if given the chance, you should try to visit. We arrived at sunset and were lucky enough to experience such glory!!
This picture just makes we want to say, "Thank you my mountain man!!"
Look closely and you can see some elk! If I were an elk, I definitely would live right there with them!
Again, we camped out. No, it wasn't cold at all...I wish! But, as Adam said, the view in the morning would be unbeatable, and of course it was. To make it even better, Adam make me coffee :)
Ah! I mean please tell me if you can think of a word to describe this sight, because all I can think of is overwhelming!
Conatys this is for you! In the National Park there was a Catholic church! I can't even imagine what it would be like to attend mass in this little chapel in the mountains with a spectacular view! Unfortunately, they only have mass June 1st, through September 15th.
It was called Sacred Heart Catholic church.
He is a lot of fun :)
We saw a shaggy moose on the side of the road.
As we drove home, we were driving on the opposite side of the park and decided to stop and soak up the view. We pulled over, blew up the air mattress and decided we were the luckiest people to have the opportunity to experience such beauty!
This property is for sale if anyone is interested in having this view in your backyard!!!
As many of you have heard, Adam and I will be moving to Clarksville, TN the beginning of June. Adam was given an offer and we thought it was an offer we shouldn't turn down. Here we are again, about to set out toward the next chapter of our lives. It is a very bittersweet time for me right now. I have been longing to move back to Tennessee to be closer to family and friends and back to all the little things that I treasure. However, in some ways I am not ready to end this adventure. My friend Stephanie expressed it perfectly. She said our experience has been like a long honeymoon. A honeymoon that has been more than I could have ever dreamt of. People told us that this experience would be an experience of a lifetime and it truly has been. There were still down days and plenty of COLD days, however, I cannot imagine trading this adventure for anything in the world. We have been so lucky to spend the first year of our marriage surrounded by such unimaginable beauty. Challenges have continued to strengthen the foundation we have built, and the daily joys have reminded me how lucky I am to have the opportunity to spend my life with my mountain man. Depending only on each other brought us so much closer and made us appreciate this opportunity. This year, with all the highs and lows, has been the best experience of my life and I cannot imagine it any other way. I have to thank my mountain man for challenging me to step out of my comfort zone and seek an adventure into the unknown. Daily I am reminded why he is the love of my life and my best friend. I know next year, though in Tennessee, will be filled with just as much adventure and joy. I cannot wait to set out on the road toward our new future, knowing in my heart it is exactly where we are supposed to be; with each other :)
